Harrisburg Senators News Release

Having lost four out of five entering Tuesday, the Senators were looking for a little luck and some hitting and found both on their way to a doubleheader sweep of Altoona by scores of 5-3 and 3-2. With the two wins, the Senators improved to 18-8 on the road and 25-20 overall. Altoona drops to 20-24 and with their loss in game one, had their seven-game winning streak snapped. Danny Rosenbaum (6-0) and Pat McCoy (2-0) were the winning pitchers in the two games for Harrisburg.

In game one, Rosenbaum wasn't his usual self, walking three batters and allowing seven hits, but the Senators offense did just enough to win the game 5-3. Jesus Valdez singled in Chris Rahl with the first run of the game after Rahl tripled. With the score tied 1-1, Tim Pahuta homered in the fourth to put the Sens up 2-1. In the fifth, Rosenbaum helped his own cause with an RBI single followed by an RBI ground out by Eury Perez. Harrisburg scored their final run in the sixth inning when Pahuta doubled and then scored on a pop out to first baseman Matt Curry who then, thinking there were two outs, flipped the ball in the stands which allowed Pahuta to score.

Rosenbaum lasted into the sixth inning before Christian Garcia took over. Garcia gave up a double to score a run, then gave up two singles in the seventh before striking out Curry to end the game. Garcia earned his sixth save on the season.

In game two, Brandon Cumpton started for Altoona and retired the first nine Senators while Altoona scored twice against Ryan Tatusko in the bottom of the third inning. Tatusko allowed a lead-off home run in the third to Quincy Latimore which was followed by a Elyvis Gonzalez hitting a double. Pat McCoy relieved Tatusko and gave up a single to Brock Holt, scoring Gonzalez and giving Altoona a 2-0 lead. In the top of the third, Eury Perez lead-off with an infield single. Jose Lozada singled him around to third. Jesus Valdez followed with an RBI double, putting runners at second and third with no outs. Then with one out, Rahl hit a grounder to third that Gonzalez threw to the plate, but the throw hit Lozada allowing him to score to tie the game. Valdez then scored the go ahead which turned into the winning run on a balk. Marco Frias followed Pat McCoy and pitched 1.2 scoreless innings before turning the game over to Erik Davis who pitched out of a second and third jam by inducing Miles Durham to bounce out to short stop. Davis gave up a two-out hit in the seventh, but retired Robby Grossman on a fly ball to center to end the game.

The final game of the series is Thursday morning at 10:30 a.m. with RH Rob Gilliam on the hill for Harrisburg against RH Shairon Martis for Altoona. The game can be heard in the Harrisburg area on 1460am The Ticket, on the Internet through www.senatorsbaseball.com and on iHeart Radio which is available on all mobile devices and on the Internet beginning with the pregame show at 10:10 a.m.
