Reno Aces News Release
NASHVILLE, Tenn.-Reno took a two-run lead into the eighth inning Tuesday afternoon, but a four-run Nashville frame vaulted the Sounds to a 9-7 victory over the Aces in the series finale at Herschel Greer Stadium.
The Aces relinquished an early 3-0 lead, but fired back with four runs in the sixth to take a 7-4 advantage. Nashville pushed across a run in the seventh before taking the lead for good in the eighth.
Reno reliever Sam Demel entered the game in the eighth, hit a batter and surrendered two hits before his exit. Jonathan Albaladejo came on and allowed both inherited runners and one insurance run to score before getting out of the inning. Reno brought the go-ahead run to the plate in the ninth, but the Aces failed to convert.
Demel (0-3) took the loss, while starter Zach Kroenke allowed four runs on five hits over five innings of work.
The win went to Sounds reliever Johnnie Lowe (3-0), who worked a scoreless eighth. Jim Henderson slammed the door in the ninth for his second save.
At the plate for Reno, Jake Elmore doubled twice, singled and drove in three runs. Ryan Wheeler hit his sixth home run, and David Winfree added two hits.
Following a day off on Wednesday, the Aces return home Thursday night to kick-off an eight-game homestand. In the opener against Oklahoma City, RHP Barry Enright (4-1, 3.14 ERA) gets the nod for Reno, while RHP Paul Clemens (3-3, 5.24 ERA) counters for the RedHawks.
