
Sano and Tomshaw Led Snappers to 3-1 Win over LumberKings

Beloit, WI- Miguel Sano smashed his league- leading eleventh homer putting the Beloit Snappers ahead of the Clinton LumberKings 3-0 in the bottom of the third. Snappers' starter, Matt Tomshaw picked up his second win of the season pitching an impressive six innings, allowing only three hits and no runs. Tomshaw walked one and struck out six in his appearance. The Snappers went on to win it 3-1 against the LumberKings on a beautiful Sunday afternoon at Pohlman Field.
Miguel Sano led the team at the plate going one for three with three RBI. Sano now sits at 35 RBI for the season, solidifying his rank at the top of the Midwest League in RBI. The second closest player is Peoria Chiefs' Paul Hoilman with 27 RBI. Sano is also leading the Midwest League in slugging percentage, sitting at .646 and total bases (84). Eddie Rosario went one for four with a double to follow Sano's homer in the bottom of the third.
Clinton's starter, Ambioris Hidalgo had a rough start today, going four innings allowing four hits, three earned runs, three walks, and a home run. Hidalgo was replaced by reliever, Kyle Hunter in the bottom of the fifth. Hunter was later replaced by righty, John Taylor. LumberKings relievers held the Snappers for a combined four innings allowing no hits and no runs.
The LumberKings picked up their only run in the top of the seventh on a wild pitch by Michael Tonkin to Jharmidy De Jesus, scoring Mario Yepez, who singled earlier. Michael Tonkin pitched three innings, allowing four hits and one earned run. Tonkin picked up his second save of the season.
