Calgary Stampeders News Release
The 2012 CFL Draft has concluded and the Calgary Stampeders have selected eight players.
Calgary used its first-round selection (fifth overall) to take defensive lineman Ameet Pall (Wofford College).
"Ameet Pall is a consistently hard worker on the football field, in the classroom and in the weight room," said John Hufnagel, head coach and general manager of the Stampeders. "He is a good leader both on the field and off the field. He will contribute to our special teams and compete at the defensive line position."
Pall, a Montreal native, played 11 games for Wofford in 2011 and recorded 29 tackles, including seven tackles for loss, two sacks and one fumble recovery. In 2010, he was the Southern Conference's defensive player of the year as voted by coaches and media and was runner-up for the Buck Buchanan Award. Pall was also named first-team All-Southern Conference.
"I know I will be able to contribute to the team," said Pall. "I'm coming in ready, I haven't stopped training and I will go in there focused."
The Stampeders traded their second-round pick (12th overall) and fifth-round pick (35th overall) to the Saskatchewan Roughriders for the 15th overall selection and a second-round pick in 2013. Calgary selected defensive back Keenan MacDougall (Saskatchewan) with that 15th overall pick.
The Stampeders also took offensive lineman Billy Peach (Jacksonville) with the 19th overall selection, offensive lineman Bradley Erdos (Simon Fraser University) at 27, defensive back Adam Berger (SFU) at 30, offensive lineman Mike Filer (Mount Allison University) at 31, defensive lineman Jordan Spence (Eastern Oregon University) at 43 and linebacker Wilkerson Desouza (University of Toronto) at 45.
