Sano Rips Homer #5 in Game One of Today's Doubleheader

Game 1

The Beloit Snappers couldn't pull it together for game one of the doubleheader losing 5-2 against the Kane County Cougars. Center fielder, Lane Adams of Kane County had all five RBI for the Cougars. Miguel Sano hit his fifth homer of the season, but it was not enough for the Snappers to pull through.

Snappers starting pitcher, Madison Boer, allowed an RBI double to Lane Adams in the top of the first for a quick 1-0 lead for the Cougars. Beloit quickly caught up when Sano scored in the bottom of the second, bringing the score to 1-1. Tonight's star at the plate, Adams, hit a two-run single putting the Cougars in the lead 3-1 in top of the fifth. Sano's homer in the bottom of the sixth brought it to 3-2, but the Cougars pulled away in the seventh.

Boer took the loss, working six innings, allowing nine hits, three runs, two walks while striking out three. Bart Carter came in to relieve Boer in the top of the seventh. Carter pitched one innings allowing three hits and two runs.

Adams tripled in the seventh to cap off a 5-2 game.

Game 2

The Beloit Snappers rallied back in the bottom of the seventh to win 3-2 against the Kane County Cougars in game two of Tuesday's doubleheader at Pohlman Field. A.J. Pettersen pinch ran for Rory Rhodes to run it in for the Snappers.

The game was 1-0 Cougars until the bottom of the fourth when Eddie Rosario doubled on a fly ball to right fielder Jorge Bonifacio. Tyler Grimes then reached on a fielder's choice, fielded by pitcher Edwin Carl. Eddie Rosario then scored tying it up 1-1. With Daniel Ortiz out on a sacrifice bunt, Tyler Grimes went to third, and eventually scored when Rory Rhodes was out on a sacrifice fly to right fielder Jorge Bonifacio. Snappers then up 2-1.

The Cougars tried to rally back in the top of the seventh with singles by Jorge Bonifacio and Lane Adams. Kane County scored on a sacrifice fly by Henry Moreno, tying it up 2-2.

It was an eventful bottom of the seventh when Pettersen pinch ran for Rory Rhodes to win it for the Snappers 3-2. Pettersen went to second on a sacrifice bunt by Jairo Rodriguez, then advanced to third base on a wild pitch. Pettersen went on to score on yet another wild pitch by Mike Giovenco.

Starter, Matt Tomshaw, had a rough night on the mound in his first start of the season, allowing a double to Justin Trapp to start off the first inning. Tomshaw went three innings allowing four hits and one earned run. Righty, A.J. Achter, came in to relieve Tomshaw in top of the fourth not allowing a single baserunner in his three innings pitched. Achter threw the heat tonight with six strikeouts. It was lefty, Clinton Dempster, who got the win for the Snappers tonight. Dempster threw one inning allowing two hits, one run, and one earned run.
