Bowling Green Hot Rods News Release
Bowling Green, KY - In the middle contest of a three-game set, the Bowling Green Hot Rods (8-4) fell to the Great Lakes Loons (6-6) 1-0 on Tuesday night at Bowling Green Ballpark. Seeing their six-game winning streak coming to an end, the Hot Rods managed just five hits in the losing effort and never pushed a runner to third base.
Bowling Green's offense was stymied by a combination of three Loons pitchers. Starter Brandon Martinez was brilliant in his six frames, and relievers Juan Noriega and Eric Eadington combine to hold the Hot Rods to just two hits over the final three frames.
A night after Jake Hager's two-out, two-run double walked the Hot Rods off to a victory, the Hot Rods managed a base runner in the bottom of the ninth when Todd Glaesmann singled with one out. However, Glaesmann was left at first base as Eadington locked down the ninth for his second save of the season. Bowling Green was unable to conjure an improbable, come-from-behind win.
The Hot Rods continue their nine-game homestand on an Education Day Wednesday (10:35 AM start) with the rubber match in the three-game set with the Loons at Bowling Green Ballpark. Getting the pearl for the Hot Rods is RHP Parker Markel (1-0, 3.60), while the Loons will counter with RHP Matt Laney (0-0, 6.00). College Night features $1 drafts and special $5 tickets for college students with valid ID. It's also another Thrifty Thursday, featuring $2 food and drink specials until the seventh inning.
