Comeback in Kelowna

Kelowna, BC - The Edmonton Oil Kings offense kicked into high gear as they notched five unanswered goals in the second period en route to a 6-3 win over the Kelowna Rockets on Wednesday night. Tyler Maxwell would lead the way for the Oil Kings with a pair of goals while Oilers draft pick Martin Gernat had three assists.

Edmonton fell behind 2-0 in the first period before exploding for the five unanswered goals in the second frame. The Oil Kings power play was firing on all cylinders as they finished the night 4 for 5 with the man advantage, out shooting the Rockets 44-28.

Michael St.Croix and Rhett Rachinski each had a goal and an assist while Keegan Lowe and Henrik Samuelsson notched the other Oil Kings markers. The Oil Kings penalty kill held the Rockets to 2 for 7 on the night while Oil Kings goaltender Laurent Brossoit made 25 saves for his 33rd win of the year.

The victory comes on the heels of last night's loss to the WHL leading Kamloops Blazers. Edmonton has not lost consecutive games since November of 2011. The Kings remain alone atop the Eastern Conference standings with a record of 38-13-3-4 for 83 points as they roll on in this B.C. road trip.

Edmonton will finally wrap up this six game road trip on Friday in Vancouver as they take on Oilers draft pick David Musil and the Giants.
