Providence Bruins News Release
Boston, MA - Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today that the club has recalled defenseman Andrew Bodnarchuk from the Providence Bruins. Bodnarchuk is expected to join the Bruins for their practice at the TD Garden at 10:30 a.m. this morning.
Bodnarchuk, 23, has skated in 47 contests for Providence this season and registered four goals and seven assists for 11 overall points. This marks Bodnarchuk's first recall to Boston this season.
The 5'11", 190-pound defenseman was recalled to Boston on one occasion in 2009-10. He appeared in five games with the team, including his first NHL game on April 3, 2010 at Toronto.
Last season with Providence, Bodnarchuk set career-highs in assists (15), points (16) and penalty minutes (91).
The Drumheller, Alberta native was originally drafted by the Bruins in the fifth round (128th overall) of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
The P-Bruins are back in action with three games next weekend. The club opens the weekend at The Dunk on Friday versus the Hershey Bears, who sit in second place in the East Division. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m. for Rally Towel Night. Rally Towels, courtesy of Cool Air Creations and Benjamin Moore, are free to the first 2,000 fans. The team is on the road in Springfield on Saturday. The P-Bruins close out the week at The Dunk on Sunday in a 4:05 p.m. match up with the Connecticut Whale for MetLife Plush Snoopy Night, which are free to the first 1,000 fans.
