Kalamazoo Wings News Release
Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings, proud member of the ECHL, two-time defending North Division Champions, reigning Eastern Conference Champions and National Hockey League affiliate to the Vancouver Canucks and New Jersey Devils and American Hockey League's Albany Devils, announce the addition of defenseman Joe Tolles (Tolls) off waivers.
In his first full year as a professional, Tolles joins the K-Wings after playing in 25 games with the Wheeling Nailers. The native of Toledo, Ohio posted five points (1 goal, 4 assists) in his tenure with the Nailers.
A two-year standout with Brock University, Tolles received a taste of pro hockey last year playing in two games in the ECHL with the Florida Everblades and finishing the season in the SPHL with the Augusta Riverhawks.
Before attending Brock University, Tolles played five seasons of Junior hockey, splitting time with the Helenga Bighorns (NAHL), Moncton Wildcats (QMJHL) and Omaha Lancers (USHL).
Tolles is scheduled to make his K-Wings debut tomorrow night, Friday, January 27th with a 7:30 p.m. face-off when the Kalamazoo returns home to battle the Cincinnati Cyclones on Culver's Night and a Frugal Fan Friday, featuring $1 Beer, $1 Hot Dogs and $1 Pepsi products.
On Saturday, January 28th, the K-Wings will travel to the WesBanco Arena in Wheeling, West Virginia for a 7:35 p.m. battle against Wheeling Nailers. This will be the second of three meetings between the teams this season and the final regular season visit for the K-Wings at WesBanco Area.
The K-Wings will conclude the week on Sunday, January 29th with a 4 p.m. face-off versus the Reading Royals during a Family Hockey Day in the 'ZOO, presented by Meijer, Pepsi, Charter Media and the Kalamazoo Gazette. During all Family Hockey Day's in the 'ZOO all kids eat FREE. Also during Sunday games, fans can participate in a FREE post-game skate with the players (skate rental additional), and the first 500 kids will receive a FREE giveaway, which for January 29th will be a Pepsi Lunch Bag.
