Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins News Release

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - Scott Munroe turned away all 25 shots fired by the Binghamton Senators to lead the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins to a 1-0 victory on Wednesday night at Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena.

The Penguins outshot the Senators 19-7 in the first period, but only owned the slimmest of margins going into the first intermission after Matt Rust's first professional goal. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton struck at 4:51 of the frame when the rookie center took his own faceoff win and spun a seeing-eye shot past Binghamton goalie Robin Lehner.

Munroe allowed the goal to stand for the remaining 55:09 of the contest for both his third win and shutout of the season. All of Munroe's wins this season have come against the Senators as well as two of his shutouts.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton was 0-for-2 on the power play and went 4-for-4 on the penalty kill.

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins skate against the Hershey Bears on Saturday, December 10 at 7:00PM. For more information, visit www.wbspenguins.com.
