Drive and Sand Gnats Suspended in 5th Inning

August 13, 2011 - South Atlantic League (SAL1)
Greenville Drive News Release

Savannah, GA - The Greenville Drive and Savannah Sand Gnats were suspended by unplayable field conditions at Historic Grayson Stadium, created by heavy rain Saturday night in the series finale between the two teams.

The game will be resumed on Thursday at 6 PM, when the Sand Gnats visit Fluor Field for a four-game series.

Fans holding tickets to the regularly scheduled game will have admittance to the ballpark for the conclusion of this game as well.

Prior to Saturday night's game going into a delay, the Drive were leading 1-0, with the Sand Gnats coming to bat in the bottom of the fifth.

Greenville scored in the top of the fourth when Brandon Jacobs singled, went to second on an error, stole third and scored on Drew

Hedman's groundout.

Starting pitcher Scott

Swinson had tossed 4.0 scoreless innings before the game being suspended, allowing three hits while striking out three.

The Drive return home to Fluor Field tomorrow for a nine-game home stand, beginning with the Rome Braves.
