Idaho Falls Chukars News Release
Idaho Falls Chukars infielder Michael Liberto has been moved to the Kansas City Royals Class A Advanced affiliate in Wilmington, NC.
Liberto, who was selected in the 21st round of the June 2010 draft out of the University of Missouri, appeared in 26 games for the Chukars this season after playing in 15 games for the Kane County Cougars to start the year.
In 92 at-bats for Idaho Falls the versatile infielder lead the Chukars with a .348 batting average and a .435 OBP, although he did not accumulate enough at-bats to qualify for the Pioneer League lead. The new Blue Rock also picked up five doubles, two triples and eight RBI.
Liberto also led the Chukars in playing five different defensive positions, including second base, shortstop, third base, first base and even an inning on the mound as a pitcher.
Liberto becomes the fourth Chukar from the Opening Day roster to leave the team, joining David Middendorf (Burlington Royals), Mike Giovenco (Kane County Cougars) and Paul Krebs (Kane County Cougars).
