Great Falls Voyagers News Release
BILLINGS Mont.--The Mustangs shut down the Voyagers in the opener of a four game series, 4-1.
A three-run fourth inning gave the Mustangs all the run support they would need. With Jarrett Casey on the hill, Spencer Dickinson tripled to begin the inning and then was scored on a Juan Silva single. The very next batter, Sean Buckley, drove a ball over the hitter's eye in center field for his 12th home run of the season, giving Billings a 3-0 lead.
Second in the league in home runs, Buckley's blast was his fifth against the Voyagers in just eight games this season.
Jarrett Casey (4-1) suffered his first losing decision of the season. Lasting just four innings, Casey gave up three runs on four hits--all in the fourth inning. The Indiana native struck out three and hit one batter in his ninth start of the season.
Billings got their fourth run off of Erik Johnson. The second round pick in his second professional outing gave up three hits in the eighth which lead to the insurance score.
Entering the game having thrown 30 consecutive scoreless innings as a staff, the Mustangs kept the Voyagers off the board until there were two outs in the top of the sixth. With Qualon Millender at second, having single and stolen a base, Joe De Pinto singled him home off of reliever, Pat Quinn, ending the streak at 35.2 innings.
Rhadames Quezada (2-3) contributed five scoreless innings to the streak. The righty from the Dominican Repbulic defeated the Voyagers for the first time in three ties, giving up just one hit in an outing in which he struck out four.
Brooks Pinckard (S,5) picked up the save going 1.1 innings of scoreless baseball.
Jimmy Jacquot reached all four times for the Voyagers, collecting two hits, getting hit once, and walking once.
The Voyagers offense has been held to just seven hits in its last two games.
The Voyagers continue their longest road trip of the season tomorrow in Bllings against the Mustangs. First pitch from Dehler Park is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. with the pregame show set to begin at 6:40 p.m. on 560 KMON.
