HELENA, MONT - The Missoula Osprey ventured into Kindrick Legion Field on Wednesday, looking to keep the Helena Brewers at bay, but it would be the hosts that snapped a seven-game losing streak and pick up a 9-4 win in front of 744 fans.
The Osprey (6-5, 31-18) fell behind 2-0 in the bottom of the second on a base hit, walk and a pair of errors. Missoula moved a run closer in the top of the fourth after Eric Groff doubled and Jon Griffin singled him home, but Helena (3-8, 21-28) would score three times in the bottom of the fourth to push their advantage to 5-1.
Fidel Pena would hit a two-run home run in the top of the fifth to pull the Osprey within 5-3, but the Brewers erupted for four runs off of reliever Dexter Price to push the lead to 9-3 in the sixth. Justin Bianco would single home a run in the top of the seventh inning to account for the final Missoula run.
Taylor Siemens (2-1) went five innings for Missoula, allowing just four hits and a walk while striking out five batters, but also allowed five runs - none of which were earned. The outing lowered Siemens' ERA to 1.55.
Ty Linton had two hits and two runs scored, while Stephen Cardullo and Groff each added two hits for Missoula, who finished with 10 hits in the contest.
The Osprey will wrap up their two-game series with the Brewers at Kindrick Legion Field on Thursday. The Osprey will send right-hander Raymond Hernandez to the mound, while the Brewers
