Mike McDade Drives in Two Runs in Fisher Cats 8-2 Loss

(Manchester, NH)-Mark Sobolewski went 2-for-3, extending his hit streak to 12 games and Mike McDade drove in two runs with a single, but the Fisher Cats dropped an 8-2 decision to Bowie in the opener of a three-game series Tuesday night in Manchester.
With a nice crowd of 6,381 on hand, the Fisher Cats suffered a fourth straight loss, but were able to stay in first place in the Eastern League's Eastern Division by a half-game over Trenton.
Bowie (29-30) took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Greg Miclat tripled and scored on a sacrifice fly by Pedro Floriman.
The Baysox took control of the game by batting around in the top of the third inning. Billy Rowell walked and Xavier Avery singled. Miclat (2-for-4, 3 R) singled and the ball rolled past Fisher Cats right fielder Moises Sierra to the wall, scoring both runners. Miclat, who advanced to third, scored on a single by Caleb Joseph (2-for-4, 2 RBI) to make it 4-0. Joseph scored after singles by Robbie Widlansky and Steve Lerud for a 5-0 lead.
The Fisher Cats (35-22) got on the board in the bottom of the fifth inning. Mark Sobolewski singled and Adeiny Hechavarria walked. Darin Mastroianni (3-for-5) singled to load the bases and McDade drove in two runs with a single to left to make it 5-2.
Bowie tacked on two more runs in the top of the seventh inning. Miclat was hit by a pitch and Pedro Florimon and Caleb Joseph hit consecutive doubles for a 7-2 lead. Steve Lerud homered in the top of the eighth for the final run for the Baysox.
Chad Beck (5-2) took the loss for the Fisher Cats, allowing five runs on eight hits in six innings. He walked one and struck out five.
Steve Johnson started for the Baysox, but lasted only 2.1 innings, leaving after being hit on a line drive off the bat of Adeiny Hechavarria in the third inning. Cole McCurry (4-0) picked up the win in relief.
The series with the Baysox continues tomorrow night at 7:05pm.
