66ers to Host Thunder Affiliate Night on February 4

TULSA, Okla. Friday, Jan. 28 - The Tulsa 66ers NBA Development League game vs. the Utah Flash on Friday, Feb. 4 will have a Thunder feel as the 66ers host the annual Thunder affiliate night at the Tulsa Convention Center. The experience also features a unique way of delivering the game ball from Oklahoma City to Tulsa.
To showcase the relationship between Oklahoma City and Tulsa basketball fans, the game ball will be dribbled over the course of five days, spanning 114 miles, and delivered to the Tulsa Convention Center. Thunder events and entertainment intern, Hiroshi "Morris" Morioka, will leave Oklahoma City on Monday, Jan. 31 and travel by foot, through four towns on Route 66 to Tulsa. He plans to arrive at the Tulsa Convention Center on game day, Friday, Feb. 4.
This will be the third time Morioka has dribbled a basketball for consecutive days over a long distance. Most recently in 2007, Morioka dribbled a basketball more than 300 miles (13 days) from Kyoto to Tokyo to raise awareness of the NBA and the sport of basketball in his native country of Japan.
"Thunder affiliate night at a 66ers game is a unique opportunity to demonstrate our growing relationship with our Thunder fans in Tulsa, as well our connection with the 66ers' family on and off the court," said Thunder Senior Vice President, Brian Byrnes.
The game will feature an appearance by Rumble the Bison, performances by the Thunder Girls and Thunder Drummers.
In addition, the Thunder Community Foundation will raffle off a Cole Aldrich Thunder jersey on Friday night. Fans will have the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets for $5 on the concourse. All proceeds will benefit the Tulsa American Heart Association.
