Crunch Assign Left Wing Jon Mirasty to Elmira

Syracuse, NY (December 30, 2010) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that they have assigned left wing Jon Mirasty to Elmira (ECHL).

Mirasty, 28, has appeared in 16 games for the Crunch this season and leads the team with 74 penalty minutes. He has skated in 182 games over four seasons with the Crunch since the 2007-08 season, tallying seven points (1g, 6a).

In addition the 5'10", 220-pound Mirasty has led the team in penalty minutes in each of the last two seasons and racked up 751 penalty minutes during his Crunch career, ranking third all-time in club history behind Jeremy Reich (820) and Brandon Sugden (754).

Prior to turning pro, Mirasty spent two seasons in the Western Hockey League (WHL) with Prince Albert, Tri-City and Moose Jaw from 2000-02. He went on to appear in 184 combined games with Bakersfield (ECHL), Greenville (ECHL), Sorel-Tracy (LNAH) and Danbury (UHL) from 2003-07, tallying 32 points (9g, 23a) and 1,406 penalty minutes.

A native of Flying Dust First Nation, Saskatchewan, Mirasty was originally signed by the Crunch to a professional tryout contract on October 4, 2007. He was signed by the Crunch to an American Hockey League contract on June 16, 2010.

The Crunch continue their season-high seven-game road trip with a New Year's Eve match-up at Hershey on Friday, December 31 at 5 p.m. Syracuse returns home to The Oncenter War Memorial Arena on January 15 for a 7:30 p.m. contest vs. rival Rochester.
