Flannery Promoted to High-A Tampa; Rodriguez Transferred to Charleston

CHARLESTON, SC - The New York Yankees announced Wednesday that Charleston RiverDogs right-handed pitcher Ryan Flannery has been promoted to the High-A Tampa Yankees and right-handed pitcher Wilton Rodriguez has been promoted from the GCL Yankees to the RiverDogs.

Flannery, a Carlstadt, N.J. native, has made 45 relief appearances with the RiverDogs this season. The former Fairleigh Dickinson standout has posted a 7-6 record and 2.26 ERA, with a team-leading 18 saves, on the year. The 6'4" prospect has given up 61 hits, 20 earned runs and 14 walks, with 70 strikeouts, in a total of 79.2 innings on the mound in 2010. The right-hander was one of three RiverDogs who earned South Atlantic League Midseason All-Star honors in June.

Rodriguez, a Haina, Dominican Republic native, has posted a 0-3 record and 4.05 ERA in six games with the GCL Yankees this year, including four starts and two relief appearances. The right-hander has given up 16 hits, nine earned runs and nine walks, with 21 strike outs, in a total of 20.0 innings of work. The 22-year-old hurler started two games with the RiverDogs in 2009, posting a 1-0 record and 6.75 ERA.

The RiverDogs continue their four-game home set against the Greenville Drive Wednesday night with a 7:05 p.m. first pitch. Fresh off leading the South Carolina Gamecocks to a National Championship, South Carolina Head Baseball Coach Ray Tanner will be at Riley Park Wednesday night to toss out the ceremonial first pitch.
