Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release
SALISBURY, MD - A one out single in the second inning by Omar Casamayor after a double by Levi Carolus was the only scoring in a quick 1-0 defeat of the Kannapolis Intimidators by the Delmarva Shorebirds on Wednesday in Salisbury, MD.
Justin Collop pitched a complete game, eight innings, and was the tough luck loser as he allowed seven hits and struck out seven. The lone run allowed was the RBI-single by Casamayor after Carolus doubled off the wall in left. This is Collop's (9-11) second complete game of the season and the second of the year for the Intimidators (32-33) in a nine-inning contest.
Scott Copeland (1-0) made his debut with the Shorebirds (27-38) after starting 12 times for Aberdeen and went six scoreless. He was spelled by James Brandhorst who tossed two scoreless and David Walters who pitched a scoreless ninth for his fourth save of the season.
The Intimidators had six hits and went 0-for-7 with a runner in scoring position in the ballgame that was contested in just one hour and 53 minutes, the quickest of the season for either team.
The Intimidators dip to a game below .500 and will look to get back even on the second half and even on the series as the final game, game four, will see Andre Rienzo make his final start of 2010. He will be opposed by Nick Haughian at 7:05 pm.
