Greenville, SC - With all of the success the Drive have had on the field during the 2010 season, as they are currently in 1st place in the Southern Division, it couldn't have been achieved without Jeremy Hazelbaker. On Wednesday, South Atlantic League President Eric Krupa announced that the outfielder was selected to the 2010 Annual All-Star Team.

Hazelbaker becomes the first player in Drive franchise history to be named to the league's Annual All-Star Team. The All-Star Team is voted on by the 14 South Atlantic League Team's Field Managers, Coaches, General Managers, Sports Writers, and Broadcasters, with a total of 56 votes casted.

"Jeremy has had an outstanding 2010," noted Drive Manager Billy McMillon. "He worked hard at getting better both offensively and defensively. He made major strides in his development and proved to be a leader on the field."

McMillon added, "If he continues to work hard and improve his overall game, I believe he has a chance to play this game at the highest levels. Speaking on behalf of the Red Sox organization, we are all proud of what he's been able to accomplish this season."

With 60 stolen bases on the year, Hazelbaker not only currently ranks second in the South Atlantic League, but it is the highest total by a Red Sox minor leaguer since at least the 1990 season (Lew Ford had 52 in 2000 as a member of the Augusta GreenJackets, also of the South Atlantic League).

Appearing in 110 games with Greenville during his first full season of professional baseball, the 2009 4th rounder has posted a .270 average (113-for-419) with 11 homers, while leading the team with 56 RBI and second with 74 runs scored. Hazelbaker ranks first in doubles (29), extra-base hits (49), and total bases (193), as well.

In addition, he is the first Red Sox prospect this decade to hit more than 10 home runs while swiping at least 30 bases in a season.

Drive President and Co-Owner, Craig Brown, stated about the announcement, "The Boston Red Sox continue to show why they are the cream of the crop when it comes to scouting, drafting, and developing young talent that will help them at the Major League level. Jeremy spent the final two months of 2009 in Greenville, and it has been a joy to witness his development and to be part of his success during the 2010 season. We congratulate Jeremy on this well-deserved honor, and wish him all the very best as he continues his development toward the big leagues. Besides being a gifted baseball player Jeremy is an even better person and has also been a wonderful addition to the Greenville community over this past year."

The Drive are currently on the road in Charleston, SC before returning home to Fluor Field to wrap up the 2010 regular season. The Drive host the Hickory Crawdads from September 3-6, with fireworks to follow Friday's and Sunday's games. The first three games of the series are scheduled for 7:05 PM, while the Labor Day game on Monday will begin at 2:05 PM.
