End the Season in Style with the RiverDogs' Be Your Own Fan Finale

CHARLESTON, SC - The RiverDogs return to Charleston after an eight-game road trip to play host to the Greenville Drive and the Greensboro Grasshoppers for an eight-game homestand from Aug. 30-Sept. 6 to conclude the 2010 season at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park.

The RiverDogs first welcome their Palmetto State rivals, the Greenville Drive, the Single-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, to town for a four-game set starting Monday, Aug. 30. Fans of raucous rivalries should get excited as the first series features not only Lowcountry vs. Upstate, but the biggest rivalry in the "Bigs" -- Yankees versus Red Sox. Following their showdown with the Drive, the RiverDogs play host to the Greensboro Grasshoppers, an affiliate of the Florida Marlins, for another four-game series from Friday, Sept. 3 through Monday, Sept. 6 to close out the 2010 campaign.

Kick that manic Monday blues and come to The Joe to be a fan of baseball, beer and brats with another 98X Hair of the Dog Monday featuring $1 beers and $1.50 mini hotdogs in the Ashley View Pub.

Every Monday the RiverDogs take the field with a local non-profit organization to help raise awareness for a worthy cause on Dogs with a Cause Night; Monday the team takes the field with the Birthday Presence Foundation, which aims to enrich the lives of impoverished children through unforgettable experiences and lasting birthday memories.

The RiverDogs are all about team work and camaraderie so we're inviting all local coaches and athletes out to Monday's game for All Sports Night at The Joe. Come as a team and hang out off the field or just show up at the RiverDogs Box Office in your uniform or team shirt and get a $1 off admission, but this Monday don't just "Be Your Own Fan!", "Be Your Own Team!"

Turn a double-play on Tuesday with two great steals of a deal. Wear your cheer outfit to the RiverDogs Box Office and receive $1 off admission to Tuesday's game!

Race fans should get their engines revving as NASCAR great Kyle Petty and representatives from his organization, Victory Junction, will be at the ballpark bringing one of the Ride to Victory cars, including the ServiceMaster race show car, Adam Petty show car and the pink, limited-edition Victory Junction pickup, donated by Taylor Swift. Located in Randleman, N.C., Victory Junction was established to enrich the lives of children with chronic medical conditions or serious illnesses by providing life-changing camping experiences that are exciting, fun and empowering in a safe and medically-sound environment.

Fans of the Gamecocks and their 2010 National Championship on the baseball diamond should get excited because the South Carolina skipper Ray Tanner will be at Riley Park this Wednesday. The 2010 Collegiate Baseball and Baseball America National Coach of the Year will be honored by Mayor Riley prior to throwing out the ceremonial first pitch to one his former player, RiverDogs outfielder DeAngelo Mack.

We hope you're hungry this hump day because it's another Wild Wednesdayfeaturing $20 All-You-Can-Eat hot dog and hamburger tickets, load up your plate while we load up the bases! It's also a special Wednesday edition of Dogs with a Cause Night featuring The 3rd Cup Initiative, a community-wide initiative directed at empowering Charleston's youth through literacy and service.

It's Greenbax night at the ballpark as well. Fans can redeem just two Greenbax for a free General Admission ticket.

Get your weekend started early and "Be Your Own Fan!" with a can as Budweiser presents our final Thirsty Thursday of the year. Enjoy $1 beers in the Ashley View Pub as we look to send our Palmetto pals packing, telling the Drive to hit the road back to Greenville.

Friday, September 3

It's our final Force Protection Red Shirt Friday of the year, so fans are encouraged to take advantage of this sweet deal at the RiverDogs Box Office. All fans who wear a red shirt to the ballpark receive $1 off the walk-up ticket price. Be a fan of our troops by donating that $1 to families with loved ones fighting overseas. The RiverDogs' bats aren't the only things bringing fireworks to The Joe on Friday, thanks to Piggly Wiggly. Keep your eye to the sky following the game as The Pig brings you the biggest fireworks showcase in the city.

It's also our second Fat Tire Friday of the season as we pedal through The Joe with the famous Belgian brewery as all fans 21+ have the chance to win a bike at special Fat Tire booths. We're offering draught specials in Vendor village with special 16-ounce cups.

We'll also be honoring Edwin Gardner at the ballpark for Bike Night. Gardner was a local activist in Charleston who was killed in July while riding his bike. We'll be paying tribute to Gardner by encouraging fans to ride their bikes to Friday's game to receive discount admission. There will even be a bike valet and a special raffle with proceeds going to the Gardnerfamily.

Also the special red jerseys you've seen the team for every Friday game at The Joe will be up for auction, with all proceeds going to the Air Force Aid Society.

Kia Country of Charleston Saturday/Curveball Giveaway / Molly Maid Night

It's another Kia Country of Charleston Saturday at the ballpark as festivities get started early with the gates opening at 6 pm. Remember that after the game, kids 12-and under can run the bases. There are tons of things to cheer for around Riley Park, but one thing we're all fans of is free stuff. Get here early because the first 1,000 fans through the turnstiles are set to receive a free curveball baseball featuring the RiverDog and Kia Country of Charleston logos, presented by WTAT-TV Fox 24.

Fans of clean up hitters and clean houses should also get excited for Saturday's game as Molly Maid will be at the park giving away free cleanings each inning. If the RiverDogs hit a grand slam one lucky fan will even receive free cleaning for a year!

Charleston County Parks & Recreation Commission Family Sunday

This Sunday go from "Be Your Own Fan!" to "Be Your Own Family!" with our final Charleston County Parks & Recreation Commission Family Sunday of the year. Make this Sunday a FUNday with face painting and inflatables on the concourse and Family Catch on the field prior to the game. Of course, there's FREE parking and kids 12-and under eat FREE. Get here early as the first 1,000 kids in the park receive a RiverDogs t-shirt, courtesy of Vapor Apparel. Plus, the team will hang around the dugout after the game to sign autographs for the fans.

Get ready to step to the plate for our final game of the season because you, the FANS, are batting cleanup. "Be Your Own Fan!" has been the theme for the 2010 season, but for our finale, we're going "Be Our Own Fan!" of you with SC Blue Store Fan Appreciation Day. While you've cheered us on all season, we've been fans of you all season and now we're finally getting the chance to show our appreciation to all of our "Be Your Own Fans!" We'll be giving away prizes throughout the game and in between innings, with everything from 2011 season tickets, RiverDogs jerseys, autographed memorabilia, gift certificates and so much more going back to YOU, the fans!

For our final Dogs with a Cause of the year, the boys are taking the field with Rein and Shine, a local organization dedicated to creating and sustaining a therapeutic horseback riding facility where Charleston Countyresidents with disabilities can learn, grow and heal.

It's our final 98X Hair of the Dog Monday as well. Keep the weekend going one more time with $1 beers and $1.50 mini hot dogs in the Ashley View Pub.
