Cats Take Rain-Shortened Game

August 23, 2010 - Carolina League (CarL1)
Lynchburg Hillcats News Release

The Hillcats took a 5-0 lead into the top of the eighth, but then the skies opened up, preventing the completion of the game. Because the game was suspended in the eighth inning, it becomes official and the Cats take home the 5-0 win.

The win is the fourth out of five, and ninth out of 12 games for Lynchburg.

Lynchburg struck for a five-run third inning to jump out to a huge early lead. The Cats notched three straight singles from Josh Fellhauer, Kevin Coddington and Miguel Rojas to load the bases. Brodie Greene grounded into a fielder's choice to score the first run. After Cody Puckett walked to load the bases, Neftali Soto belted a two-run double. Puckett scored from third on a throwing error, and Soto advanced to third base. Then Chris Richburg drove in Soto with a single.

Josh Ravin threw another solid start and still hasn't given up an earned run in a Hillcats uniform. He earns the win to move to 2-0. Since Blair Carson entered the game with the tying run on deck and finished the game, he earned the save. That's his first in Lynchburg.

The Cats and Dash continue their four-game series tomorrow night at 7:05. Justin Walker (3-1, 6.75) starts for Lynchburg opposite Dylan Axelrod (6-2, 2.20) for the Dash.
