Fort Wayne Alum Traded for Miguel Tejada

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Former Fort Wayne RHP Wynn Pelzer was shipped to the Orioles on Thursday in a trade that brought INF Miguel Tejada and cash to the Padres. Pelzer anchored the Fort Wayne pitching staff in 2008.

Pelzer, 24, was a ninth-round draft pick by the Padres in 2007 out of the University of South Carolina. He made his pro debut with Fort Wayne in 2008, going 9-6 with a 3.19 ERA. This year he was 6-9 with a 4.20 ERA with Double-A San Antonio prior to the trade.

The TinCaps and South Bend Silver Hawks (Class-A Arizona Diamondbacks) finish their three-game series Friday at Parkview Field at 7:05 p.m. Fort Wayne LHP Jose De Paula (5-3) gets the starting nod against South Bend RHP Adam Worthington (3-2).
