Dayton Dragons News Release

DAYTON, OH - The Dayton Dragons will host 'Public Safety Day' on Sunday, July 11, from noon to 4 p.m. on the Fifth Third Field Plaza. Dayton Sports Medicine Institute (DSMI) is teaming up with the Dayton Dragons to recognize our exceptional police and fire departments through this free unique event.

The public will have a chance to run parts of the same obstacle course the safety officers run. There will be a fire truck, ambulance, SWAT vehicle, and a police car for kids to explore. Plus, they'll get to learn about firefighter gear, try it on, and get free toy fire helmets and police hats. Smokey the Bear, Sparky the Fire Dog, and Dragons mascots Heater and Gem will also be in attendance.

Departments competed on a specialized public safety obstacle course at DSMI headquarters at Yankee Medical Center July 5-9. The best of the best will be honored at the July 11 event, with the winning team's MVP throwing out the first pitch for the Dragons game.

Individuals and groups seeking information about Dayton Dragons lawn tickets, the season ticket wait list, sponsorship opportunities or booking a Dragons speaker are encouraged to contact the Dragons by calling at (937) 228-2287, or find the Dragons on the Web at daytondragons.com.
