Pawtucket Red Sox News Release
More of the same for the PawSox on Friday night in Indiana as the Indians scored 6 runs in the first inning and never looked back, whacking Pawtucket 10-3. Starter and loser Randor Bierd worked just 2 innings, allowing 9 runs on 8 hits. Indy scored 1 in the second and 2 in the third. They got a final run for good measure in the seventh. Former Pawtucket star Brandon Moss had a homer and a double. Moss had 4 RBI.
It was a strange night all around. Daniel Nava was a late scratch for the game. Dusty Brown was ejected in the fourth and the PawSox lost their DH. Pitchers T.J. Large and Chad Paronto came to bat for the PawSox. Both were rung up on called third strikes. Manager Torey Lovullo instructed the pair to not swing the bat.
The Sox are now 27-35, a season low 8 games under the .500 mark. It also marks the second straight 2-6 road trip for Pawtucket. The Sox return to the friendly confines of McCoy Stadium for an 8 game homestand that begins on Saturday at 6:05 p.m. Louisville will send Aroldis Chapman (5-3, 4.45) to the mound. Ramon A. Ramirez (0-1, 6.67) makes a spot start for the PawSox.
