BOWIE, Md. - The Bowie Baysox announce today Food Allergy Awareness Day, an event that allow fans who suffer from food allergies, Anaphylaxis and Celiac Disease to enjoy a game as the Baysox take on the Erie SeaWolves Sunday, June 6, at 2:05 p.m. The team has a pair of skyboxes set aside for the night, one is a Food-Free Suite and the other is a Gluten-Free Suite. The team is proud to partner with the Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network and the University Of Maryland School Of Medicine's Center for Celiac Research for the event.
Baysox Promotions Manager Chris Rogers helped plan the event the last two years. "I don't think the general public realizes how many people are touched by food allergies, Anaphylaxis and Celiac Disease," Rogers said. "I'm glad we have the opportunity to provide a safe and healthy environment for these families to enjoy a game."
The Food-Free Suite will be cleaned extensively before the game and no food is allowed inside the room at any point during the game. Fans are permitted to bring bottled water and soda into the suite during the game, and can watch the game from the climate controlled luxury box or from a private balcony in front of the suite. Tickets in the Food-Free Suite are $11.
Tickets in the Gluten-Free Suite are $13.50, and include a voucher for a hot dog on a gluten-free bun, chips, regular soft drink and a gluten-free cookie. Space in the suites is limited, to guarantee a spot in one of the suites fans are asked to purchase tickets from Chris Rogers at (301) 464-4855 by 5 p.m. Friday, June 4.
