Richmond Flying Squirrels News Release

Richmond, VA-The Flying Squirrels, Double-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, have announced an exciting tribute night at The Diamond on May 18th when the Squirrels take on the Erie SeaWolves at 7:05 PM. The Squirrels will host Tribute to the Peanut Night-Energy for the Good Life presented by Virginia Peanut Farmers Association, Inc.

There will be trivia and fun all night long at The Diamond Tuesday night. Fans that bring a jar of peanut butter will also be entered to win an authentic Flying Squirrels batting practice jersey. All peanut butter will be donated to the Central Virginia Food Bank to help replenish supplies.

"The Tribute to the Peanut theme was meant to be fun for the fans, but it will also be rewarding since they have the opportunity to support such a great cause," said Flying Squirrels Assistant General Manager Tom Denlinger. "We're nuts about partnering with the Virginia Peanut Farmers Association!"

Kings Dominion will be bringing Peanuts Cartoon characters in honor of Tribute to the Peanut. Charlie Brown, Lucy, and Snoopy will be on-hand to greet fans and take pictures.

Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Commissioner Matt Lohr will be in attendance to throw out a first pitch.

Tuesday night will also be the Reading Night presented by MARTIN'S for Petersburg, Caroline, Hopewell, Goochland, and Powhatan counties. All participating students who earned their free ticket to The Diamond are invited out for a pre-game parade with Nutzy around the field.

Tickets for Tribute to the Peanut and Reading Night can be purchased by visiting the Flying Squirrels' ticket office at The Diamond, calling (804) 359-FUNN (3866) or logging on to SquirrelsBaseball.com.
