Calderone Named Eastern League Player of the Week

Manchester, NH- For the second consecutive week, a New Hampshire Fisher Cats outfielder has been named the Eastern League Player of the Week. Adam Calderone, 26, earned the honor for the week ending Sunday, May 16, by batting .393 (11-for-28) with four home runs and 11 RBIs in seven games.
The 6'2", 225-pound left-handed hitter added three doubles, seven runs scored, a walk and a stolen base, guiding the first-place Fisher Cats to a 5-2 week and a league-best record of 24-13. Calderone led all EL sluggers in homers, RBI, extra-base hits, total bases and slugging percentage (.929) for the week and has driven in at least one run in six consecutive games.
Calderone, who is batting .319 in 34 games, is currently ranked first in the EL in total bases (80); tied for first in extra-base hits (21); second in slugging percentage (.593); tied for second in doubles (12); tied for third in RBI (30); tied for fourth in HR (7) and OPS (.940) and fifth in hits (43). The Toronto Blue Jays' 23rd round draft pick out of Florida Southern College batted .242 with 12 HR in 97 games with the Fisher Cats in 2009.
New Hampshire centerfielder Darin Mastroianni was named the player of the week on May 10, and pitcher Luis Perez was named the EL Pitcher of the Week on April 19.
