Mississauga St. Michael's Majors News Release

Mississauga, ON- The Mississauga St. Michael's Majors have selected defenceman Nick Ebert from Waterloo Jr. A, of the USHL with their first overall pick (17th overall) in the 2010 OHL Priority Selection.

Ebert is described as defenceman with great poise, composure and maturity beyond his actual age. With Waterloo, Ebert logged close to 30 minutes every game and played on both the power play and penalty kill.

"Nick is a very skilled defenceman. He's a tough kid, with a great deal of offensive upside. He has a great shot and can move the puck very well" said Majors Director of Player Personnel Jim Cassidy. Cassidy was surprised that Ebert was still available when the Majors were set to make their first pick. "We're very happy to get him here with the Majors."

The Livingston, New Jersey native collected 16 points in 46 games this past season for Waterloo. The Majors have a total of 12 picks remaining with the draft slated to go 15 rounds. Check www.stmichaelsmajors.com later today for a re-cap of all the Majors draft picks from Round 2 through 15.
