Pawtucket Red Sox News Release
The PawSox won on Wednesday night in Allentown, 8-4 over the Iron Pigs. Pawtucket (6-7) got a win from rehabbing pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka (2-0). The righthander went 5 and two thirds innings in his third PawSox start, allowing 3 earned runs on 6 hits. Dice-K struck out 8. He did not walk anyone. In three starts for Pawtucket, Matsuzaka went 16.2 innings, surrendering just three earned runs. He had one walk and 13 strikeouts. Boston manager Terry Francona will have to find room for Dice in his rotation. He looks healthy and sharp and ready to help the Red Sox.
Kevin Frandsen had an rbi single in the second and a solo homer in the fourth, his first of the year. Daniel Nava had a pair of hits, including a 3 run double in the 4 run sixth inning.
The PawSox will wrap up their 8 game road trip on Thursday night at 7:05 p.m. Drew Carpenter (1-1, 5.79) faces lefty Fabio Castro (0-0, 5.14).
