Tuesday will mark the 6th and final meeting between the Moose Jaw Warriors and the Saskatoon Blades. The Warriors are coming off a huge win Saturday night against the Lethbridge Hurricanes, which allowed the tribe to clinch a playoff berth.
Regardless of his injury, Quinton Howden still leads the tribe in scoring with 65 points in 65 games. Spencer Edwards is hot as of late adding four assists in as many games. Kevin Smith has five points in his last 3 games.
Walker Wintoneak leads the Blades with three goals and seven points against the Warriors; Gaelan Patterson has two goals and seven points; Stefan Elliot has four goals and six points; Charles Inglis as two goals and four points; Marek Viedensky has a goal and three points.
LETHBRIDGE LEFT WITH ANOTHER LOSS
The Moose Jaw Warriors have clinched a playoff berth. Winning 5-2 over the Lethbridge Hurricanes Saturday night, the Warriors with a little help from the Pats--made it mathematically impossible for the Raiders to get one of the last playoff spots.
The Warriors line up may have been a bit out of the ordinary Saturday night-- but they got the job done. Missing from the bench were Dylan McIlarth, Quinton Howden, Kendall McFaull and Jeff Bosch. With Glover between the pipes, the tribe opened the game with a goal from the Warriors youngest line, MacMaster scored with help from Danny Gayle and Joey Kornelsen. 1-0 would be the score heading into the first intermission.
Only seconds into the next twenty, Canes' Bancks slid one past Glover. With a tie score, Captain Bast opened things up with the second goal of the night. Tony Honejsek banked the third of the night followed by line mate Brendan Rowinski adding one more to make it 4-1.
Hurricanes would manage a second goal from Jackson in the third; but Kevin Smith would end any hopes with the fifth and final goal. Only minutes after making it a 5-2 game, Smith and Maxwell would tilt near center to end the game.
Dallas Ehrhardt would have two assists on the night. Glover made 15 saves. The Warriors were able to fire 40 shots Lethbridge's way. Three lucky fans went home with great prizes after the game which included two Warriors jerseys and a free season ticket! Fans received awesome prizes all night long to celebrate fan appreciation night.
BACK IN BRANDON WEDNESDAY
Coming off a 9-2 loss last Friday in Brandon, the Warrior will make the long trip to Brandon Wednesday night for their final regular season meeting with the Wheaties. Kevin Smith and Jason Bast scored the lone two markers. The Warriors faced 7 penalty kill situations to Brandon's one. Lewadniuk had one goal and three assists on the night. Scott Glennie has two goals and an assist. The Warriors are 1/6 this season against the Wheat Kings.
SWIFT CURRENT HOME AND HOME RACE TO THE PLAYOFFS
Saturday and Sunday will feature a Bronco's and Warrior final stand off to wrap up the regular season. Rallying for the 7th and 8th spots, both teams will be looking for the "W" to help them out in the playoff rankings. The Warriors have had a hard time with the Bronco's this season, winning only one of the 6 previous meetings back in October. Very few points separate the two teams. The Bronco's only play one game before the home and home against the Warriors. The Warriors have two games this week heading into Saturday. The four points up for grabs could be the deciding factor for the final placements.
