Everett Earns 5-1 Victory Against Moose Jaw

Everett, WA - The Everett Silvertips defeated the Moose Jaw Warriors Saturday night at Comcast Arena, 5-1. Tyler Maxwell scored his 50th and 51st career WHL goals Saturday night, moving the Everett forward into fourth all time in franchise history in goals. Scott MacDonald had a two point night (1G, 1A) while Clayton Cumiskey and Kellan Tochkin grabbed two assists each. Chris de la Lande and Chris Langkow rounded out the scoring for the Silvertips. Shane Harper collected an assist and played in his 200th consecutive game Saturday night. Thomas Heemskerk stopped 26 shots for his 19th win of the season and 50th career WHL win.

Moose Jaw scored the first goal Saturday night with Quinton Howden's 23rd goal of the season at 1:32. Howden intercepted a pass in the neutral zone before breaking into the Everett zone and beating Heemskerk top shelf, glove side with a hard wrist shot. De la Lande tied the game at 12:31 with his second goal of the season. The Everett defenseman collected the puck at the blue line and riffled a slap shot past Moose Jaw goalie Brandon Glover five-hole to tie the score, 1-1. The Silvertips took their first lead of the game at 18:20 with Langkow's 19th goal of the year. Shane Harper cycled the puck to Langkow in the Moose Jaw zone before skating to the slot on his backhand and delaying for a shot past Glover five-hole. Everett led 11-7 in shots after 20 minutes of play.

Maxwell scored his 50th career WHL goal at 8:04 of the second period on the power play. Maxwell received a Kellan Tochkin pass back door beating Glover for a 3-1 Silvertips lead. Jeff Bosch came in to relieve Glover after Everett's third goal. MacDonald added to Everett's lead at 18:16 of the second period. MacDonald beat Bosch after a quick wrap around went off Bosch's skate and into the net for a 4-1 Everett lead.

Maxwell gave Everett a four goal lead with his 29th goal of the season at 6:53 of the third period. Maxwell made a beautiful mid-air deflection off a Tochkin shot from the point to make the score 5-1. The Silvertips held off the Warriors for the remainder of regulation to earn a 5-1 win.

This brings the ‘Tips record to 36-19-2-1 with 75 points in 58 games played. Everett heads out to Spokane this Monday for an afternoon game against the Chiefs at 3:00 pm. The Silvertips come back to Comcast Arena this Wednesday, February 17th for a 7:05 pm showdown against the Portland Winterhawks.
