Reigning NBA D-League Mvp Courtney Sims Returns To Energy

DES MOINES, IA, Jan. 22, 2010 - Courtney Sims, the 2009 NBA D-League Most Valuable Player, has returned to the Iowa Energy after signing a contract Thursday. Sims will be in uniform Friday and Saturday nights as the Energy host Ft. Wayne at Wells Fargo Arena.

Sims, a 6'11" center, was originally signed by Iowa during the 2007-2008 season. He returned the following year, averaging 22.8 points, 11.0 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game while earning both the league MVP award as well as the D-League All-Star Game MVP award.

During the 2008-2009 season, Sims earned Gatorade Call-Ups from both the Phoenix Suns and the New York Knicks. This preseason, he participated in the Atlanta Hawks veteran camp before spending time with CSKA Moscow in the Russian League. Sims played his collegiate ball at the University of Michigan.

Iowa hosts Ft. Wayne Friday and Saturday night at Wells Fargo Arena. Saturday's game features "Benny the Bull" bobbleheads for the first 1,000 fans. "Benny" will be in attendance as the game will be aired nationally on VERSUS at 10 pm CT.
