Burst Of Energy Spoils Jam At 2010 NBA D-League Showcase

BOISE, ID Jan. 7, 2010 - Iowa coasted for much of its 2010 NBA D-League Showcase finale against the Bakersfield Jam, but made enough key plays down the stretch to avoid the upset, settling for a 96-91 victory.

The majority of those plays came courtesy of Curtis Stinson, who posted a triple-double with 18 points, 13 assists and 12 rebounds. Backcourt mate Jeff Trepagnier hit two key three-pointers down the stretch and finished with 20 points for Iowa, which retained sole possession of first place in the Eastern Conference.

"We brought more a defensive effort in the second half. That's really what our success is based on," said Stinson, who also had a triple-double on Dec. 29 against Fort Wayne. "I came out passing tonight and my guys made some shots, which opened some stuff up to me and I was able to make some plays."

The Energy also got key contributions from former Miami Heat center Earl Barron (25 points) and former Charlotte Bobcats forward Cartier Martin (17 points).

Brian Butch turned in an inspired performance for Bakersfield, finishing with 30 points, 14 rebounds and three blocks. Jeremy Wise added 20 for the Jam (3-14).

Iowa hosts Rio Grande Valley Saturday. Bakersfield welcomes Los Angeles.
