Flash Steps On Mad Ants At 2010 NBA D-League Showcase

BOISE, ID Jan. 7, 2010 - A Jefferson moving to a deluxe apartment in the sky.

Not exactly an original concept (see sitcom that ran from 1975-85), but the course Utah's Dontell Jefferson would like to take this season.

The deluxe apartment is, of course, the NBA, where Jefferson made a brief stop last season with the Charlotte Bobcats. He's hoping for a longer lease next time around. Jefferson scored 32 points, as the Flash defeated the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, 131-120 in the final game of the 2010 NBA D-League Showcase. Jefferson scored 21 points in Tuesday's loss to Tulsa.

"We started out slow. They shot the ball well, and we really needed to turn up our defensive intensity in the second half," said Jefferson, who shot 11-for-12 from the free throw, and also had seven rebounds and six assists. "This showcase has been great. It's what every player wants, the chance to show what they can do."

Orien Greene did his part as well, scoring seven straight points with under two minutes left in the fourth to stretch Utah's lead to eight. Greene finished with 14 points on 6-for-8 shooting. Jason Richards added 16 for the Flash.

Fort Wayne (6-10) was looking to get back on track, having lost four games in a row. Make it five. Ron Howard led the Mad Ants with 28 points to go with eights assists and seven rebounds. Jared Reiner and Oliver Lafayette each added 21.

No rest for the weary as Utah (9-7) hosts Reno tomorrow night. Fort Wayne is at Erie Saturday.
