Hershey Bears News Release
The HERSHEY BEARS Hockey Club heads into December with a healthy lead in the East Division standings and seven of its next 11 games at home during the holiday season. The BEARS blanked the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins Sunday 5-0 behind a 42-save performance from Michal Neuvirth, and now are tied for the second most wins in the American Hockey League after two months of the season.
The BEARS travel to Albany Friday before hosting Norfolk and Hartford this weekend at Giant Center. The visit by Hartford, the top developmental affiliate of the New York Rangers, marks the only time the Wolf Pack will play in central PA this season. Tickets are on sale now at the Giant Center box office or by calling (717) 534-3911.
Ahead by seven: The BEARS head into December with a season-best seven-point lead in the East Division standings. HERSHEY collected five points out of a possible eight last week during a stretch of four games in five nights.
Misky business: Rookie defenseman Zach Miskovic picked up five assists in two home games this weekend at Giant Center, his best two-game stretch in his young professional career. Miskovic led all NCAA defenseman in goals during his senior season in 2008-09 at St. Lawrence University.
Practice schedule: HERSHEY will skate at Giant Center Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 10:00 a.m. The players and coaches are available for interviews after practice all three days. Please note the team will leave immediately after practice Thursday for Albany for Friday's game with the River Rats at Times Union Center.
Roster update: Left wing Alexandre Giroux was recalled to Washington Friday, with Michael Dubuc getting the call from South Carolina (ECHL) to take his place on the HERSHEY roster. The BEARS signed Gavin Morgan to a player tryout contract for the second time this season this past Thursday.
Washington update: After a thrilling 4-3 come-from-behind shootout victory over the Montreal Canadiens Saturday night at the Bell Centre, the Capitals return to action Monday in Raleigh against the Carolina Hurricanes. Face-off in North Carolina is at 7:00 p.m. Washington returns to the District Thursday night to host the Florida Panthers at 7:00 p.m. before heading to the Delaware Valley Saturday night to face the Flyers. Washington heads into play Monday tied with Pittsburgh for the best point total in the Eastern Conference.
