Hurricanes Reassign Bryan Rodney To Albany

RALEIGH, NC-Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has reassigned defenseman Bryan Rodney to the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League. In a separate move, the Albany River Rats announced that forward Jacob Micflikier and goalie Mike Morrison have been reassigned to the Florida Everblades of the East Coast Hockey League.

Rodney, 25, was recalled to the Hurricanes for the second time this season on Saturday, Nov. 28th, and played in the team's game that night at Buffalo. In six NHL games with Carolina this season, the London, Ont. native, has earned two assists and averaged 18:27 of ice time per game. Rodney (6'0", 195 lbs.) has scored one goal and earned five assists (6 points) in 16 games this season with the River Rats. He is in his fifth professional season and his second with the Hurricanes organization after signing with the club as a free agent on May 12, 2008.

Micflikier, 25, was recalled to the River Rats for the second time this season on Friday, November 27th. The Winnipeg, MB. native proceeded to score two goals in two games over the weekend as Albany took three of four points in Norfolk. Micfllikier (5'8", 180 lbs.) has scored three goals with a plus-4 rating in five AHL games this season with Albany. He's currently leading all Everblades scorers with 31 points (9 goals, 22 assists) in 15 games. Micflikier signed a standard player contract with Albany on September 10, 2009, after splitting 56 AHL games between Springfield and Rochester last season.

Morrison, 30, did not see game action for Albany after being recalled from the Florida Everblades on November 18th. The Medford, MA native has posted a 5-4-1 record, a 2.79 goals-against average and a.903 save percentage in 10 games with Florida this season. Morrison (6'3", 202 lbs) signed a two-way contract with Albany on August 11, 2009 after splitting last season between the Austrian Hockey League's Ljubljana Olimpija HK (24 games) and the Swedish Elite League's Modo Hockey Ornskoldsvik.(13 games).

Albany hosts the Hershey Bears this Friday at 7:00 p.m. before heading to Glens Falls on Saturday night for Game Four of the Time Warner Cable Cup against the Adirondack Phantoms.
