NEWS AND NOTES
Moose Tracks...Peoria snapped a six-game losing streak against Manitoba on Friday. It was their first win since Jan. 18, 2008 against the Moose and their first win on home ice against Manitoba since Oct. 8, 2005.
Connect four...An injury to Ben Bishop has forced Hannu Toivonen to play four consecutive games. He had only played back-to-back games once (the first two games of the season) until this latest stretch. He has gone just 1-3-0 but posted a 2.84 GAA and a .909 save percentage, which are both better numbers than his overall season numbers (2.96/.899).
Two will do...Friday night was the first time the Rivermen had scored fewer than three goals and won as they beat the Manitoba Moose 2-1 in overtime. The Rivermen are averaging 2.96 goals per game and are now just 1-9-0 when scoring two or fewer but an impressive 9-0-3 when scoring three or more. Friday was also Peoria's first win against a North Division team. They are just 1-6-2 against the North while 9-3-0 against the West.
Leading the way...Jonas Junland leads the Rivermen in points with 18 (6g, 12a). He is one of just three defenseman to lead their team in overall points. Former Rivermen Andy Wozniewski (Providence) Danny Groulx (Worcester) are the other two.
On the kill...Peoria's penalty kill was a perfect 11-for-11 this week and has now extended its streak to a season long 16 consecutive penalties against.
