HAMILTON, ON - Hamilton Bulldogs General Manager Julien BriseBois announced today that the club has signed forward Ryan Murphy to a Professional Tryout (P.T.O.) contract. As per club policy, financial terms of the agreements were not disclosed. Murphy is scheduled to play in tonight's game when the 'Dogs welcome Duncan Milroy and the Houston Aeros to Copps Coliseum.Murphy, 30, played in 64 games with the Lowell Devils last season earning 21 points (nine goals, 12 assists) and 29 penalty minutes. The native of Van Nuys, California has played in a total of 367 AHL games with the Devils, Lowell Lock Monsters and Albany River Rats from 2002-2009 earning a total of 153 points (63 goals, 90 assists) and 153 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-1, 205-pound left wing was drafted by the Carolina Hurricanes in the 4th round, 113th overall in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft.
Milroy returns as a member of the Houston Aeros to Copps Coliseum for the first time since April 11th, 2008 when he was playing with the Hamilton Bulldogs. The forward played five seasons with the 'Dogs from 2003-2008 where he posted 80 goals and 116 assists for 196 points in a franchise record 381 regular season and post-season games. Milroy was a member of the Hamilton Bulldogs 2007 Calder Cup Championship team.
The Bulldogs host the Houston Aeros tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Copps Coliseum. Fans can listen to every 'Dogs game on the flagship station of the Hamilton Bulldogs Hockey Network, TALK 820.
