
Americans fight hard in first preseason game, lose 4-3 to Brahmas

ALLEN, Texas - The Americans played the first game in the club's history tonight after only four days of practicing together. Despite a strong showing, the club fell short to the Texas Brahmas, 4-3.
The Americans got on the scoreboard first with a goal from defenseman Ryan Bartle. Bartle's goal was the only one in the first period. The Brahmas went up 4-1 in the second with goals from Mark Rooneem, Alexandre Lacombe and two from A.J. Gale. The Americans rallied in the third with two goals, one scored by Justin Todd and the other coming from Bill Loupée.
Charlie Effinger made 21 saves over three periods for the Americans. The club outshot the Brahmas 26-25. The Americans had 11 penalties while the Brahmas had nine.
Fans will have a chance to see the Americans when the club travels to NYTEX Sports Centre in North Richland Hills to take on the Brahmas Oct. 10 at 7:05 p.m. The Texas Brahmas are offering all members, families and friends of the Allen American's Fan Club $5 tickets to the preseason game. The Americans, the Dallas Stars' CHL affiliate, begin play this fall in the newly built Allen Event Center in The Village at Allen.
