October 9, 2009 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Tulsa Oilers News Release

A third period rally came up short for the Tulsa Oilers in their Central Hockey League preseason opener, losing 3-2 to the Odessa Jackalopes Thursday night in Odessa.

After falling behind 3-0 and being outshot 30-15 through the first two periods, the Oilers came to life on the power play, with both third period goals being scored on the man advantage. R. J. Linder got the Oilers on the scoresheet at 6:18, with Marty Standish picking up the assist. The Oilers struck again on the power play as Jeff Marshall scored from Adam Bartholomay to get the Oilers within one, with 3:25 left to play.

The Oilers outshot Odessa 10-9 in the third period and finished the game 2-for-7 on the power play, while Odessa was 2-for-8 on the power play. Kevin Armstrong played the entire game in goal for Tulsa, stopping 36 of the 39 shots he faced. The same two teams play Staruday night in Odessa at 7:05. That will be the final preseason game for the Oilers.

Tulsa opens the regular season at Mississippi on Friday October 16th. The home opener at the BOK Center is Saturday October 24th against the Wichita Thunder at 7:35 p.m.
