RiverKings Bounce Mudbugs in Exhibition Action

(Southaven, MS) --- The Mississippi RiverKings began the 2009-2010 pre-season against the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs on Friday, October 9th with a 4-1 victory in Southaven.

Newcomer Kevin Jarman scored two goals, while Matt Pierce and Travis Wight added single tallies in the RiverKings win.

Meanwhile, Mississippi goaltender Ray Jean stopped 27 of 28 shots on goal.

Mark Johnson scored the lone Mudbugs' goal. John DeCaro was tagged with the loss, posting 39 saves on 43 shots on net.

The teams were scoreless through the first period, before Pierce opened the scoring at 3:37 of the second period. Jarman's first goal came just over three minutes later unassisted for a 2-0 lead before Johnson answered to cut the Bossier-Shreveport deficit to 2-1.

Jarman's second goal at 11:25 made the second intermission score 3-1 RiverKings. Wight's unassisted goal at 16:09 of the third period provided the final margin.

The RiverKings were 1-for-7 on the power play, while the Mudbugs went 1-for-5. Mississippi out shot Bossier-Shreveport by a 43-28 margin.

The RiverKings complete their pre-season series with the Mudbugs tomorrow night, October 10th at 7:05 PM in Bossier City, Louisiana.
