Lansing Lugnuts News Release

LANSING, Mich. - Kenny Wilson raced home with the go-ahead run on Tyler Pastornicky's seventh inning sacrifice fly, lifting Lansing Lugnuts (13-17; 39-60) to a season-high fourth straight victory, 3-2 over the Clinton LumberKings (13-17; 53-47) on Tuesday night at Oldsmobile Park.

On the heels of a three-game sweep at Beloit, the Lugnuts put together the game-winning rally without benefit of a base hit.

The very first pitch of the home seventh was delivered by Clinton reliever Brandon Josselyn (0-1) into Wilson's back. Wilson stole second base before advancing to third base on Chris Emanuele groundout to second baseman Luis Nunez, putting him position to score on Pastornicky's fly ball to right fielder Welington Dotel.

Lansing reliever Hunter Moody (1-2) faced one batter, retiring Jake Shaffer on a grounder to end the top of the seventh, to earn the victory. Dustin Antolin pitched out of two-on, none-out situation in the eighth, setting up Matt Daly to record his 18th save of the season with a scoreless ninth.

Clinton had taken the lead in the top of the first inning on Scott Savastano's two-run double, but the Lugnuts tied the score in the bottom of the second inning on an RBI double from Kenny Wilson and a run-scoring wild pitch.

The game featured a fine pitching duel between the starters. The Lugnuts' Joel Carreno worked 6 2/3 innings, scattering six hits, walking one, and striking out four in a no-decision. His opposite number, Kenn Kasparek, exited after striking out seven batters over 5 2/3 innings.

The Lugnuts and LumberKings play the second game of their three-game series at 12:05 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon, pitting Lansing's Chase Lirette (3-1, 3.88) against Clinton's Brett Lorin (5-4, 2.44).
