Tacoma Rainiers News Release

Tacoma, WA - Tomorrow evening John Clayton will bring his expert sports knowledge and experience to the Cheney Stadium broadcast booth where he will sit alongside Rainiers broadcaster Mike Curto to provide color and play-by-play analysis for the 7:00 pm game versus the Sacramento River Cats. Clayton, a 2007 inductee into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, is one of the nation's premiere NFL Analysts.

His work can be seen on a variety of ESPN segments including Sportcenter, Sunday NFL Countdown, NFL Live or heard on the radio during the John Clayton Show on 710 ESPN Seattle. While honored predominately for his work covering the NFL, Clayton has a passion for baseball.

"Sitting in the broadcast booth covering baseball has been a dream of mine for quite some time," said Clayton. "I am a huge baseball fan, I'm local, and excited about working with the Rainiers and providing some insight during these next few games."

Clayton will be coming back to Tacoma where he once worked with The Tacoma News Tribune newspaper as a Seattle Seahawks beat writer back in the 1980s. The Professor will be sitting in the booth for the River Cats versus Rainiers games on Tuesday, July 21st, Wednesday, July 22nd, and Thursday, July 23rd, with game times starting at 7:00 pm. All Rainiers games can be heard on the radio on South Sound Sports 850.

"You'd be hard pressed to find a sports fan anywhere who doesn't think the world of John Clayton," Rainiers President Aaron Artman said. "He's the biggest brand name in the NFL when it comes to his craft, and we're thrilled to have him at Cheney Stadium and hope people listen. I know I will."
