Salmon Named PCL Pitcher of the Week

SALT LAKE CITY (July 20, 2009) - The Pacific Coast League announced today that right-handed pitcher Brad Salmon of the Salt Lake Bees has been named the Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Week.

The award is for his efforts during the week of July 16-19. He earned the win in a seven-inning outing on July 17 against the Portland Beavers, where he held the Beavers scoreless, allowing just four hits while striking out three.

Salmon, 29, has appeared in 23 games (seven starts) for the Bees in 2009, owning a 4-2 record with a 4.09 ERA with one save and 47 strikeouts. He signed with the Angels as a free agent in April, after spending 2009 spring training with the Chicago White Sox. Salmon appeared in 47 games with the Triple-A Omaha Royals in 2008, owning an 8-7 record with a 4.62 ERA. The Pensacola, Fla. native was originally selected by the Cincinnati Reds in the 21st round of the 1999 draft.
