Rockford IceHogs News Release
Rockford, Ill.- Only 11 games remain on the Rockford IceHogs regular season schedule and five of them will happen during Week 25 of the American Hockey League season. The IceHogs begin the homestretch tonight when the Milwaukee Admirals come to the Rockford MetroCentre at 7:05 p.m.
Rockford is coming off of a thrilling 3-2 shootout win over Manitoba on Saturday to pull back into a tie for the West Division's final playoff spot. The IceHogs are locked up with the Chicago Wolves in fourth place in the West Division, but Rockford has two games at hand on the Wolves.
Milwaukee became the first team in the AHL to secure a playoff spot on Friday night as the IceHogs rivals from the north is running away with the West Division crown. The Admirals topped the Hamilton Bulldogs on Sunday 3-2 at the Bradley Center and the team's 96 points is 17 better than the second place Houston Aeros.
Tonight's game is the fourth of five between the IceHogs and Admirals at the MetroCentre on the campaign and Rockford is still looking for their first home win. Overall, Rockford is 3-4-0-1 against Milwaukee this season including 3-2-0-0 at the Bradley Center.
Fans can purchase $4 tickets for tonight's game as the IceHogs celebrate "Brett Favre Retirement Night". The IceHogs will award the most decked out Favre fan with a pair of airline tickets to Orlando courtesy of Allegiant Air and 10 lucky fans will win a pair of Wrangler jeans and a copy of "Letters to Brett Favre: A Fan Tribute" by Thomas Hopka with Erick and Adam Rolfson.
The first 2,000 fans to the game will also pick up a set of IceHogs 10th Anniversary Player cards courtesy of U.S. Cellular. For tickets to the game call (815) 968-5222, on the Web at www.metrocentre.com or in person at the MetroCentre Box Office or Hogs Headquarters inside the CherryVale Mall.
Next Home Game: Wednesday, March 25 vs. Iowa Chops. Game time is slated for 7:05 p.m. The final meeting of the season between the IceHogs and Chops happens on Wednesday at the MetroCentre. The game is the tenth on the season and the IceHogs will try to even the season series with a win. One lucky college student will drive away in a car that will be given away courtesy of Speedway Auto Mall. Wednesday is also another WXRX Student Rush Night as students with a valid ID can purchase any seat for $10 at the door.
