
P-Bruins Fall To Americans 4-3

Providence, RI - The first place Providence Bruins fell to the Rochester Americans 4-3 Sunday afternoon at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. The P-Bruins got their goals from Jordan Knackstedt, Wacey Rabbit and Jeremy Reich. The first place P-Bruins are back at home at the Dunkin' Donuts Center Friday, January 30 versus the Portland Pirates at 7:05 p.m. for Rhode Island Lottery Hat Night.
The P-Bruins began the scoring at the 6:22 mark of the opening period. Rabbit had the puck behind the net and fed it to Ned Lukacevic in the corner. He passed it to Knackstedt in the slot and Knackstedt tallied his fifth goal of the season. Providence took a 2-0 advantage at the 6:59 mark, while on the power play. Johnny Boychuk had the puck at the right point and passed it halfway down the boards to Reich. He found Rabbit in the corner and Rabbit tossed the puck towards the net where it snuck in for his ninth goal of the season. The Americans pulled within a goal at the 7:46 mark, while. Rory Fitzpatrick netted his third goal of the season with Kenndal McArdle and Janis Sprukts getting the assists. Rochester tied the game at two at the 10:50 mark. Sprukts tallied his 12th goal of the season, while Peter Aston and Drew Larman recorded the assists. The Americans took the lead into the first intermission after scoring a power play goal at the 19:51 mark. McArdle netted his eighth goal of the season, with Sprukts and Fitzpatrick grabbing the assists.
In the second period, the Americans took a two goal advantage at the 2:55 mark. Larman scored his fourth goal of the season, while Andrew Sweetland and Sprukts had the assists. Rochester took a 4-2 lead into the second intermission.
Providence pulled within a goal at the 6:30 mark of the third period, while on the power play. Jeff Penner carried the puck into the zone down the left wing, where he left it halfway up the boards for Martins Karsums. Karsums sent the puck to the right face off circle for Reich where he tallied his 15th goal of the season. The P-Bruins were unable to tie the game as Rochester went onto the 4-3 victory.
Kevin Nastiuk stopped 22 of 26 shots he faced for the P-Bruins, while Mike Brodeur made 30 saves for the Americans. The P-Bruins were 2-for-5 on the power play and 1-for-3 on the penalty kill.
