San Antonio Rampage News Release
SAN ANTONIO (December 7, 2008) - Rampage goalie Josh Tordjman posted his second shutout and third win in his last three starts closing the door and leading the San Antonio Rampage to a weekend sweep of the Western Conference leading Manitoba Moose with a 1-0 victory Sunday at the AT&T Center.
San Antonio controlled a high action first period but could not net a goal despite out shooting the Moose 15-4 with three power play opportunities.
In the second, San Antonio took a 1-0 lead when Alexander Nikulin found David Spina to the right of the net who centered for Brett MacLean in the crease and the tap-in-goal at 12:55.
Through two periods the Moose only had nine shots on goal, but had a furious third period. Manitoba got the benefit of four power play chances in the period and parlayed them into 14 shots. But it was Tordjman who kicked aside, deflected and snagged every Moose rush.
The Rampage are rolling, having won three straight after going winless in their previous 17 games. MacLean's goal from Spina tied him for the team lead with eight. Spina, who returned Friday from injury after a 17-game absence made it a two-game point streak since returning to the lineup.
Moose goalie Karl Goehring, who played 23 games in 05-06 season with San Antonio, played well, stopping 29 of 30 shots. Tordjman was a perfect 23 for 23. Both teams took a donut on the power play with the Rampage going 0 for 6 and the Moose, 0 for 5.
San Antonio plays three more at home this week with match ups Tuesday against Rochester, Thursday with Hershey and Saturday, Quad City comes to town.
