HERSHEY, PA - Admirals goaltender Mike McKenna made 27 saves, but his Hershey counterpart Daren Machesney stopped all 29 shots he saw to hand the Norfolk Admirals (8-14-1-4) a 3-0 loss to the Hershey Bears (20-5-0-1) on Sunday evening at Giant Center.

After a scoreless opening period, Hershey capitalized on a pair of fortuitous bounces in the second period. Chris Bourque opened scoring at 15:37. He threw the puck from the end boards in the left corner toward the goalmouth. The puck bounced off the back of Norfolk netminder Mike McKenna and into the net.

Steve Pinizzotto made it 2-0 Bears with just 16 seconds remaining in the period. Pinizzoto's slap shot from the left half-wall was headed wide until it redirected off the skate of an Admirals defender in the slot and got past McKenna at 19:44.

Norfolk fired ten pucks on Hershey backstop Daren Machesney in the final frame, but none of them found their mark. Graham Mink salted away the Hershey win with an empty-net tally with two seconds remaining.

Mike McKenna (29 shots, 27 saves) was saddled with the loss. Daren Machesney (29 shots, 29 saves) earned the shutout victory.

Norfolk was 0-6 on the power play. Hershey was 0-4.

The Admirals will return to Scope next week with contests against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Wednesday and against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on Friday and Saturday. All three games will begin at 7:15 p.m.
