The Aeros play two home games this week, Saturday hosting the Worcester Sharks and the Hamilton Bulldogs on Sunday. Saturday is the first of the Aeros' Legends Bobbleheads series and the 5th Annual Military Appreciation Night. The Houston Aeros Charities are also hosting a Food Drive during both games. Bring non-perishable items to the next two home games which will be donated to the Houston Food Bank in time for the Thanksgiving Holiday!

Houston enters the week 8-7-0-1 and in fifth place in the West Division with 17 points. The Aeros are just one point behind the Iowa Chops for fourth place and five points behind first place Chicago. Houston will play 10 of their next 11 games at home and their only road game is Saturday, November 29 in San Antonio. The team will not leave the state of Texas until December 16. Houston is 3-6-0-0 on the road this season, and 5-1-0-1 at Toyota Center.

Houston will meet the Worcester Sharks at 7:35 p.m. CST this Saturday at Toyota Center for the fifth time ever with Houston trailing with a record of 1-3-0-0 against the club. Houston's only win came in Houston last season with a convincing 5-1 victory on November 10 but lost in Worcester 4-2 on December 15. Houston goaltender Barry Brust has a 3-2-0 record against the Sharks with a 1.62 goals against average (GAA) and a .948 save percentage. Houston's Marco Rosa leads the team with six points (3 goals, 3 assists) in seven games against Worcester.

The Hamilton Bulldogs come to Houston for a 5:05 p.m. CST. puck drop this Sunday in the second and final match-up of the seaseon. Houston won the first contest in Copps Coliseum 3-1 on November 7 when Houston broke a third-period tie with two goals in the final period. Maxim Noreau, Ryan Hamilton and John Lammers each netted goals for Houston and five separate players recorded assists for Houston in the game. Houston is on a two-game winning streak over the Bulldogs, both of which on the road. Hamilton defenseman Shawn Belle returns to Houston for the first time since playing with the Aeros for the last three seasons.

WEEK IN REVIEW

The Houston Aeros lost 1-0 in Grand Rapids in a Tuesday matinee game marking the teams third straight loss. Houston fell to 7-7-0-0 overall this season and 2-6-0-0 on the road. Goaltender Nolan Schaefer (5-5-0) got the start in the Aeros' fourth game in five days and stopped 30 of 31 shots improving his season GAA to 2.36 despite the loss. Daniel Larsson earned his first shutout of the season knocking aside all 16 Aeros' shots, improving his record to 3-2-0.

Houston ended the three-game losing streak with a convincing 3-1 win over the Lake Erie Monsters Friday night at Quicken Loans Arena. Goaltender Barry Brust stopped 30 of 31 shots in net and Maxim Noreau tallied the game-winning goal as the Aeros improved their record to 8-7-0-0. Aeros' forwards Corey Locke and Jesse Schultz each recorded two assists in the win. Houston now has a 5-0-0-0 all-time record over the Monsters with last season being Lake Erie's first in the league.

After returning from the Minnesota Wild, Krys Kolanos recorded two goals and an assist in his two games this past week. Kolanos recorded an assist on the power-play insurance goal against the Lake Erie Monsters Friday night. Kolanos helped the Aeros jump out to a 2-0 lead Sunday against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers when he recorded the two first-period markers. Bridgeport was able to score two goals in the final eight minutes of play including the game-tying goal with only 5.4 seconds left in regulation. Houston eventually lost 3-2 in its first shootout of the season. Locke recorded an assist on both of the Aeros' goals for his third and fourth in two games. The three points this past week for Kolanos extended his point streak to four games having tallied six points (4-2=6) in that stretch. Kolanos leads the Aeros with nine goals in as many games and is tied for second on the team with 11 points (9-2=11). His nine goals also ties him for ninth in the AHL for goals score.
